Flashcard Hero App Reviews

Helped me pass a few tests

There are a few problems with this app as others have stated, so look at past posts to see what they are. The few times I had to contact the developer he/she was always very helpful. This is the first time Ive used this app since two versions ago, and so I dont want to put pen to paper the problems I knew about until I fully test again. All in all though this app is very helpful in studying for tests. Im glad I found it.

LOVE THIS APP

This app is SO helpful with studying for college exams. You don’t have to take the time to write out every flashcard, but you don’t have to study from a word document. The feature to rate each card as easy/hard/not sure helps with determining the information you need to study further. SO WORTH THE $7! The free version only offers 20 cards per deck. You won’t regret getting this app!

Feature that beats Brainscape

I really wanted to like Brainscape, but ran into an issue importing CSV files regarding the length of text. This app has no such issue and the usability is excellent. Thank you for making it easy to import and get studying quickly!

app corrupted.. i LOST everythimng

horrible.. im really annoyed… be aware… this app is subject to corruption.. i lost 200+ detailed researched cards… gone .. poof… no data file.. nothing… avoid this app

Great update!

New version makes it possible to move cards between decks. Also like that I can Import flashcards from Quizlet, I have my cards to study within 10s.

Requires unnecessary OS upgrade

For an application that is relatively simple, requiring an OS X upgrade to v10.10 means older MacBooks must cannot use current features of the paid Mac version with their iOS 8 devices. Older MacBooks suffer in performance with the current OS versions, and dont gain any significant features. This is lazy engineering.

A great way to study!!

I weighed my options and purchasing this app was the best decision I could make. With the new update, it is even easier to use for studying. I will be using this for the remainder of undergrad and on into grad school, and I will never have to waste paper, ink, or markers to make flash cards. It is well worth buying if you plan to use this long term, if only for a few times for small things, then just use the free version. Highly recommend both versions.

Solid Flashcard App that with about everything you need

I’ve had several flashcard apps over the years and I’ve been pretty disappointed with most of them, about my favorite one to date was Flashcard Deluxe for the iPhone and iPad. It was simple when you needed it to be and complex when you wanted it to be complex. This app does the same. I was pretty hesitant at that I had never heard of this app or that it didn’t have that many reviews. But in the first month of having this app, I’ve already seen a massive update that provided all the features I wanted. My requirements for the flashcard app were: 1) Speed, the hardest part about flashcards is finding a way to make them fast so that you can get to the studying. For making tons of flashcards and including pictures, this app is pretty dang fast. I can be making flashcards as the teacher speaks (it supports keyboard shortcuts which are very nice). 2) Needed a good way to handle pictures without large uploading instructions. Uploading and sharing the flashcards to my phone has been quick and easy. 3) Different ways of studying to make sure I’m really learning my stuff, and this app has several options put in how to study, from multiple choice to the Leitner system, it’s beautiful As for all the issues others have talked about with the crashing or data issues, I have seen none of it. I’m pleasantly surprised, it’s a well-rounded app with plenty of features and just what I need, even with a few extras thrown in like deck statistics (statistics on each deck how well you have them memorized).

What an Imrpovement!

This app and it’s associated mobile app has come a long way since I first downloaded them last year. I just picked them up again after a few months, and what a difference in the new versions! I’m using the apps to quiz myself on German vocabulary. The combination of iCloud storage with sync, speaking (the app reads the cards to me in two languages!), and the ability to quiz myself on either the desktop or my iPhone has made this one of the best tools I have. Congratulations, developers! You’ve nailed it!

Old Version was Better

The new version makes me go through the process of converting old decks EVERY time I open the app. Fix this and I will give 5 stars

A little buggy

Had the app for a day and froze a couple of times- especially when I’m uploading a photo document to a card. Also, I had an incident where the app wasn’t allowing me to type. I was forced to used ‘Force Quit.’ Overall, app is simple to use. Hope to have a fix soon, though!

This app has come a LONG way!!! Great support!

Flashcard Hero has come a long way in the update to version 2.0. As a study aid, the options are more varied as well as interesting. Im a very visual learner, so the added opportunity to associate graphics with each card as well as with each deck cover made this upgrade something you wont want to miss. It works fine with Mac OS X 10.11 (Beta for El Capitan). The best thing however is the awesome support. This company puts great energy into understanding and helping the user. IMO, software is only as good as the HELP function, Documentation, and Support! Flashcard Hero has it all.

Very Satisfied

I RARELY purchase apps. But this is well worth the expense if you’re a student looking to diversify your studying. I had a huge test coming up and was going to be out of town. At the urging of a friend I purchased this app, made a set of flashcards on my desktop, then imported that set of flashcards to my phone app where I was able to study on the go. Truly invaluable. Although I highly recommend this app, my one critique would be the multiple choice setting. I wish it would allow you to set up the distractors specifically for each question. It seems to pull the responses from other questions as distractors and most of the time they’re so obviously wrong that you’re not really learning the correct thing, just how to identify outrageously incorrect options.

Perfect for High School

I got this app for high school studying to mainly save paper and be able to make falshcards at a quicker pace. First, I’d like to say you will save more money than you will spend on flashcards. Now to the app. It’s great. The ability to say easy next, repeat soon, and repeat later really is helpful. I reccomend this app for anyone who wants digital flashcards and makes a lot of flashcards.

Works great

I like to make my own cards and this App is super easy to use. It makes really nice looking cards, has many nice features, but is not burdened with unnecessary extras. It is really fast and easy to make cards. I saved my cards to iCloud and my iPad picked them up without any problem. The iOS Apps also work well. I see that you can also download prepared card stacks. This sounds good, but I have not tried it.

Surprisingly Complete for a 2.0 release

While this app hasn’t been around terribly long, and is just getting into it’s second version, it feels amazingly polished, well featured as well as being able to use without much of a learning curve. Along with that, it works seamlessly with iCloud and I have yet to have any issues with the integration so far. I don’t think I’ve ever had it crash on me, and for having used it extensively for over a year that’s quite an achievement. I wish they had charged me more, cause I got this app for $4.99 if I remember correctly, but I would have paid $15 for the amount of convince and usefulness it’s given me even before 2.0.

Buyer beware

After they charge you 7.99 for the app, you still can’t share the app between devices. They’ll charge you 3.99 to get the app on your iPhone. I’ve tried using iCloud, but that method didn’t work.

Best flashcard app

This app feels so complete. It has all the keyboard shortcuts that you’d expect, and iCloud sync is so good you can actually make changes on you iPhone/iPad and see the cards update on your Mac a second later. It’s very well done and the same can be said for the iOS version. If you need a flashcard app, this is it.

Excellent Study Tool

In my experience most educational apps have terrible UIs and are riddled with bugs, but this is absolutely not the case for Flashcard Hero. It has a beautiful, intuitive UI, and I have yet to run into a single bug. It’s clear that the people at Kitestack put some real effort into making this software.

Effective Flash Card App with Nice OSX/iOS/Cloud Integration

Good Flash Card app that’s well worth the low price! The following feature additions would be greatly appreciated: - left/right/center tabbing per line to allow for greater layout arrangement - font type and size selection
