Flashcard Hero App Reviews

After trying out a bunch of flash card apps for my 9-year-old’s school work, I’ve settled on using this one. It is easy to use and practical. However, iCloud Drive is the only option to share cards with the iOS app, some of the study options are confusing and a bit limited.

a great app to study….but pleeeeaaaseeee a version for the iPad would be great!!!

In my opinion, this is an absolutely brilliant app. It offers exactly the features I had desperately sought in other apps. For me, it is worth every penny. As a med student I’m required to memorise and understand many facts. Flashcard Hero not only helps me to learn these facts but also does it help me to memorise and revise these efficiently. The new features (folders, multiple choice tests, memorise function etc.) are amazing!

This app is great and simple for kids. The graphics are very attractive. One great thing is that the developer seem to listen to customer requests. I was the first commenter on the app and I felt it needs to allow to add pictures by drag and drop. to my surprize, the next day I found this feature added with the next update, so I increased my ratings to five stars. Some potential areas of improvement may be 1-The ability to drag and drop sound files to use in the quizz. 2-Adding the ability to use any installed font, and to change the colour of only a portion of the text. 3-The option to hide add new deck from the home screen, and adding this functionality through right click, a short cut, or even app menu. Bottom line, my son sits with me to learn though quizzes while he feels we are playing and having fun, and this is what teaching is all about. Great job, and I am thankful for the developer for caring about his clients.

I found tried many apps for flash card memorization, and nonen come close to Flashcard Hero! What’s even better is the fact it will soon be released on iPhone! If it syncs together then there is nothing more I could ask for!

I’m very happy with this simple, streamlined, but very useful and aesthetically pleasing app. The developer seems to be continuing to add features, which is great because this already useful app will just continue to become better (looking forward to the iPhone/iPad versions). Two things I would like to see are the ability to scroll through the cards more quickly when in study mode (if I stop to fix a card or two in edit mode, I have to go back and manually click through back to my original spot). Secondly, cards that have a lot of information cannot be fully seen sometimes, so I can only study them in edit mode. They can’t be rated ((easy-hard) or scrolled through in study mode because they take up too much of the screen. Easy fixes, however, I am sure!

I would suggest migrating coloured fonts, as well as different font settings. If anyone else is like me, it is really helpful when I can colour coat my fonts, notes and use different fonts just so it doesn’t seem boring looking at one font and one colour every study session. But overall, it has been pretty helpful so far!

I’m dying for the app to come to iPhone so I can study on the go!

I use this app to improve my German vocabulary and it works fantastically. I’m able to create the cards once, and they are available on all my devices. One of the few flashcard apps that I was able to find which works so seamlessly between my mac, iphone, and ipad. Only downside is that the cards can only be edited / created on the mac. Highly recommend, especially to students

Please make sure int he next update that you can add an audio recording or something like that. If you do 5 stars

I’ve used this app for a year at medical school, and believe me, it’s perfect for making hundreds of cards in several decks very quickly (and legibly…) and then studying the snot out of them. Not only that, but I don’t have to physically carry around what would have been huge wads of paper to the library. It’s utility, aesthetics, efficiency, and value all rolled into one.

Overall, this is a useful and reliable app that embodies the simplicity of cue cards. I have used this app to prepare for several midterms and final exams. I could see it having practical use for recipes also. I have recommended this app to several peers and friends. Most often they are deterred by the $6.99 price tag BUT: 1. It is roughly equivalent to buying 4 decks of cue cards (which is about 1/4 of the cue cards I need for an academic school year) 2. Makes hand-writing cue cards seem inefficient and painful (more time to study and no more hand cramps!) 3. You cant forget your cue cards at home because it syncs on all devices! 4. Go paperless! 5. Never run out of cue cards again! Only a few recommendations: 1. If you write too much in the ‘Answers…’ section, you cannot rate the difficulty of the card. 2. If you are in ‘study-mode’ and exit for whatever reason (let’s say to edit a typo on a card), when you return to ‘study-mode’ it begins back at the first card of the pile. It would be helpful to start studying where you left off and maybe have the option of starting at the beginning.

Despite the fact that there are still issues with this app (syncing problems are the biggest one), it is probably the best app out there right now if you want to create flashcards (that can include images) on your desktop of laptop, and then view them on the same computer, or on your iphone. Tips for users would be to forget about wireless icloud syncing - if you want your cards to sync to your phone in less than a day, then the best way to sync is by directly connecting your phone to your computer. As is typical for iCloud, it does not work well for app syncing.

I really enjoy using this and it really helps me with school before exams! I don’t understand some things like the ‘baseline’ open. Maybe I’m not too tech savvy to understand what it’s for but it’s not getting in the way of things. I like the feature where you can put it onto your iCloud to study on other devices and on-the-go! Few little things that I want to do to it, like change the font, would be nice. Also, I wonder sometimes if Flashcard Hero has a manual instead of just reading what’s on the app store. Other than that, this app is awesome if you need an extra help on organizing and studying your notes! :)

When I first started using this app, everything ran very smoothly. Now, I’ll write maybe 2-3 cards and it will crash. For the steep price tag, I expect it to work flawlessly. Disappointed.

I really love using this app for studying! Very organized and easy to use. One little thing that would make it even better for me was if it was possible to edit the cards (or even write little notes on them) while on study mode, instead of having to go back out and losing all your progresson on that section. This would be really helpful because sometimes I notice mistakes on cards or I remember something else I want to add to it, but then I forget by the time I’m done the deck and I go back to the main deck menu.

The best app I’ve seen that uses iCloud seamlessly, and that is simple to use on both OS X and iOS. It’s been a pleasure using this for my studies in medschool. The new update makes things even smoother! Great support if you need help. Simply, the best app.
